LPC-Associate stands for Licensed Professional Counselor Associate.

No. An Associate has completed their graduate degree,  at least 300 hours of direct counseling experience via practicum, internship and other experiential training in graduate school, successfully passed the National Counselor Examination (NCE), and have been temporarily licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.

While in the temporary licensure stage (minimum 18 months), clients have the unique benefit of having two clinicians with different skill sets and expertise working on their case, because Associates are required to meet weekly with a supervisor. During supervision, the LPC-Associate and their LPC-Supervisor collaborate on treatment options, how to manage the case, finding resources for the client, and much more.

A counselor in-training enrolled in a graduate school program.

An LPC-Supervisor works on your case with the intern at a cost effective rate of $25.
